Australia Day: Reflect. Respect. Celebrate.

As we step into 2025, Australia Day reminds us of more than just a single day of festivities—it’s a chance to reflect on our shared history, respect diverse perspectives, and celebrate the multicultural nation we continue to build.
This year’s theme, “Reflect. Respect. Celebrate,” invites all Australians to embrace these ideals in meaningful ways.
Australia Day is about understanding who we are as a nation, acknowledging the complexities of our past, and committing to a future where everyone’s experiences and contributions are valued.
January 26 is an important date on a Village’s Activity Calendar – one many residents continue to look forward. Australia Day events in retirement villages across the country will see residents and guests show respect to the stories, histories and contributions of the Australians who lived, worked and fought for the values and freedoms we sometimes take for granted.
Voices of the future: bridging generations through conversation
Australia Day isn’t just about the past; it’s also about inspiring the next generation to build a brighter future. A video from Roxburgh Rise Primary School captures this beautifully, as children share their thoughts on Australia and what the day means to them. Their unfiltered perspectives provide a heart-warming reminder of the values that unite us: respect, inclusion, and pride.
The Lambassador Returns
One of the most anticipated parts of Australia Day is the annual lamb campaign, a cheeky and uniquely Australian tradition.
This year’s advertisement, featuring ‘Lambassador’ Sam Kekovich, uses humour to highlight the importance of unity and respect—even in the comments sections of social media. With appearances by familiar faces like David Koch and Raygun, the ad reinforces the theme of reflection, respect, and celebration by showing how food can bring us all together.
Celebrate Your Way
This Australia Day, take a moment to reflect on our nation’s journey, show respect for the diverse stories that shape us, and celebrate the connections that bring us together. Whether it’s through sharing stories with loved ones, attending a community event, or simply enjoying a lamb barbecue, find a way to embrace the day that’s meaningful to you.
Retirement villages across the country are making Australia Day a celebration of reflection, respect, and connection. Through bridging generational gaps and honouring our shared heritage, these communities demonstrate what it means to come together as one nation.
Let’s make 2025 the year we embrace the full spirit of Australia Day—reflecting on our past, respecting our diversity, and celebrating the values that unite us.
