You may have heard whispers of them- the elusive Leprechauns of the Village.
They’re never seen during daylight hours, and certainly not while the staff are around. Yet, somehow, things get mysteriously fixed, rearranged, or improved after hours or over the weekend.
A wobbly garden bench is suddenly secure again. The noticeboard that was hanging by one pin is now perfectly straight. Those bushes that need pruning are now looking fabulous.
Who could be behind these acts of quiet mischief and mystery?
Residents swear it’s the leprechauns, those small but mighty folk who emerge under cover of darkness (or perhaps at morning tea) to keep the village humming along. Some say they travel by mobility scooter, others believe they have keys to the maintenance shed. One even claims to have seen a green cap poking out from behind the recycling bins.
These leprechauns, it seems, take great pride in their work. They don’t seek thanks or recognition – though they do enjoy a good gossip over a cup of tea. They’re the invisible hands that keep the wheels turning: the “fixers,” “tidy-uppers,” and “doers” who can’t quite help themselves when something’s out of place.
Of course, management insists there’s no such thing as leprechauns in the village. But then again… how else do you explain the garden gnome that moved three times last week, or the relocation of a recently planted tree to another part of the village?
So next time something appears magically mended or mysteriously moved, don’t search too hard for the culprit.
Just offer a quiet nod of appreciation – to the leprechauns who keep the village running, one secret act of kindness at a time
