The retirement village operator is piloting the registered charity’s new digital AI companion to help residents plan for their final years.
Michelle Baker, Levande’s Head of Wellbeing & Partnerships said: “Because Australians are living longer and often are entering retirement villages at a far greater age than in decades past, we now have an opportunity, with Violet, to offer them a form of support that is incredibly important, yet too often neglected.”
Melissa Reader, Founder and CEO of Violet, said its new digital AI companion, Violet, provides evidence-based modules for users, 24 hours, seven days a week, in any financial legal and life matters language.
“There are a range of modules, such as future care and wellbeing and financial, legal and life matters. The modules have been collected from the network of Violet guides and turned into a digital guide, which can be used at any time.”
Too little, too late: the experience of the last stage of life across Australia, the latest report by Violet, states people overwhelmingly are reluctant to talk about and prepare properly for the end of life, leaving loved ones with the burden of decision-making, and additional complexity to deal with, alongside their grief.
The Violet initiative is part of Levande Living, the operator’s new resident wellbeing program helping residents to understand what services are available to them and helping them to access them when and as they need them.
“As well, there are commercial partnerships providing benefits, from resident tech learning to insurance broker services, to a residential aged care partner who is offering excellent transition support and financial savings. Violet, including its AI advice pilot Meet Violet is included. All these services are free,” said the spokesperson.
It has also launched Levande Living PLUS, which is an additional users-pays services program, connecting residents with services like cleaning, meal delivery, gardening, companionship, & wellbeing check-ins.
Initially residents and families will be invited to become test users over a three-to-six-month trial, with a broader rollout of the service expected in 2025.
