#SantaForgot
Santa Forgot is a powerful video by Alzheimer’s Research UK, narrated by Stephen Fry. This short video imagines a world where Santa is living with the effects of dementia and no longer visits children on Christmas Eve.
Designed to increase awareness of Alzheimer’s, the most common cause of dementia, during the holiday season, this video was released in 2016 and has had more than 220,000 views.
There are currently more than 342,000 Australians living with this disease. This number expected to increase to 400,000 in less than a decade, with a report by Alzheimer’s Australian in 2015 stating “dementia is the single greatest cause of disability in Australians aged 65 years and older and is currently the second leading cause of death in Australia.”
This beautiful video is a timely reminder that while Santa might forget, we shouldn’t forget Santa.
