Dementia Australia’s Cuppa Time for Dementia is back this October with the national peak body for dementia encouraging everyone to pop the kettle on and help raise funds for Australians impacted by dementia.
Dementia Australia chief executive professor Tanya Buchanan said with 421,000 Australians living with dementia she could not think of a better reason to invite your family and friends over for a cuppa.
“Whether you choose to have your cuppa at home, in your workplace or with your friends and family, you’ll be raising much-needed funds to support the 421,000 Australians living with dementia and the 1.6 million people involved in their care,” Ms Buchanan said.
For retirement villages, being dementia-friendly means more than just bricks and mortar. It is the combination of staff training, thoughtful design, and daily interactions that speaks to the unique needs of residents who may have this diagnosis.
Over the past 12 months, DCM Institute has delivered workshops, resources, and professional development to ensure village staff are fully prepared to provide the highest level of care.
As part of Dementia Australia’s ‘Cuppa Time for Dementia’ campaign, we encourage all village professionals to get involved. Whether hosting a cuppa in your village or supporting the cause in other ways, you can make a difference.
“Your cuppa can be as simple as having a few friends over,” says Professor Buchanan. “You’ll be raising much-needed funds and awareness for Australians living with dementia.”
Cuppa Time for Dementia runs throughout October, allowing you to host a cuppa whenever suits you. To register and for more information visit cuppafordementia.com.au
