Professional development is no longer just about acquiring knowledge and skills—it’s about building relationships with networking very much a cornerstone of career growth.
Earlier this week we hosted two networking events in Newcastle and on the Central Coast of NSW.
Both events were held on Tuesday 3rd September with the first taking place at RSL Lifecare’s Long Tan Retirement Village in Newcastle, before we headed south to Retire Australia’s Forresters Beach Retirement Village on the Central Coast.
We recommenced these events earlier in the year when we were in Berry, NSW. On that occasion visiting MBark’s The Arbour at Berry.
We are keen to help Village Professionals build their network of sector peers, and these events allow a more localised interaction compared to our larger Professional Development Day and Village Summit events.
The intimacy of a small group allows for the sharing of ideas, and the collaboration on solving local issues.
Stop 1: Long Tan Retirement Village, Newcastle
Located within minutes of the Newcastle CBD, Long Tan Retirement Village is a state-of-the-art vertical village consisting of 76 two-bedroom plus study independent living units.
Situated on the 13th floor is the Sky Lounge, where we were hosted for morning tea by Village Manager, Michelle Grech before getting the chance to inspect two of the available units, one of which was a Penthouse unit.
Stop 2: Forresters Beach Retirement Village, Central Coast
Located on the Central Coast of NSW at Forresters Beach, this broad-acre retirement village consists of one, two and three bedroom units. The community centre, known as ‘The Lake House’ looks out across the lake that is positioned as a central feature for the village.
Our host and Village Manager, Julie Ramage, arranged for the group to enjoy afternoon tea by the lake before touring the village, which included showcasing the resident’s veggie garden, and one of the largest Men’s Sheds we’ve seen. Both of which are put to good use!
